Meet The Baiers

Gary

Gary took over as the Director and Owner of Camp Birch Knoll in 1991.  Gary has been at CBK all but one summer since 1967, when his father, Ed Baier bought the camp! He worked his way up from dishwasher (not a good one) to Tennis and Archery Instructor and the Program and Tennis Director and finally as the head honcho.

Gary has enjoyed a professional lifetime of working with kids. He has been a high school tennis coach for years, a tennis teaching pro, a YMCA executive and of course his favorite, the CBK Director.

“My strength is my rapport with the girls. I love to see them relax and have fun. I also am always amazed at the transformation they make in their short time at camp. They just blossom! And of course there is no place like camp to create friendships and memories that will last a lifetime”

Terese

Terese is the key to making CBK a smooth operation. Her attention to detail regarding campers, staff, food service, safety and cleanliness make CBK among the most beautiful and well managed camps you will find.

Terese is an Early Childhood professional with a Master’s degree in Early Childhood. After years as a Director with Head Start, she is now the Director of the 4K program for the DC Everest school district in Schofield, Wisconsin.

Their Kids

Lindsay

Lindsay is a mom to four, and a stand in mom to the campers at CBK!  She is always available to handle whatever problems and concerns the girls might have.

She is also the owner of a successful dance studio in Minocqua, WI, which she runs during the winter months.  She's got the right moves to help with our dance program, and lead the way in the Annual Eagle River Parade!

She also shows her creativity in many of our custom designed Birch Knoll clothing items!  Check them out in our store.

Jackie

Jackie is the creative force behind our programs and special events.  Whether it is an evening party, a Sunday all day themed activity, or a crazy dinner, you can count on Jackie to make it a blast!  She is involved in staff training and leadership as well as camper welfare! She makes CBK an easy place for everyone to thrive and have fun.

Jackie is also a GIA certified Gemologist, making Birch Knoll one of the few camps in America with a full-fledged, advanced jewelry design and manufacturing program.

Ted

Ted is our Waterfront Director and waterskiing expert.  A member of the Chain Skimmers Water Ski Team in Conover, WI, he can be seen there jumping, flipping, and doing all sorts of crazy tricks on the water!  He shares his love of the sport and experience with the campers, making our waterski program a CBK favorite!

When he's not on the water, he's helping out around camp, making sure our facilities are top notch.  It takes a lot of work to keep our property the most beautiful in the northwoods!

The Grandkids

Don't forget this crazy bunch!  The 4th Generation of Baiers to call Camp Birch Knoll their summer home.  Sophie and Addy are super campers, skipping along with the rest of the CBK girls.  You'll likely find Brayden and Rowan on the water fishing...shh...don't tell the girls there are fish in this lake!!  Miles is the newest addition to the family, and he is sure to be trouble, running and climbing around camp this summer!
